It is with great delight that I announce to you the culmination of nearly 40 years of work on my book, “This Magic Moment: My Journey of Faith, Friends, and the Father’s Love.” Our inaugural book signing will be October 24 at Lemuria Books in Jackson. I encourage you to join us or to come to one of the other book events near you.
This Magic Moment chronicles over three truly remarkable decades that began at age 38 and continued while I pursued a successful career as an insurance executive. From a crazy invitation to sing lead with the legendary Moonglows on stage in Washington D.C., I was led to know four magnificent African American singers – three of whom were Rock & Roll Hall of Famers. Ultimately, I ended up singing with The Drifters, The Moonglows and others. As fulfilling as it was to perform with some of my heroes, the most significant rewards were the deep and lasting friendships we made. These amazing friends are all gone now, but I had the privilege of taking part in their eulogies in word and song. I am forever changed for knowing them.
There is no doubt that you will be nurtured, inspired and moved by this story. I can say this, because I know our heavenly Father orchestrated this exceptional and unlikely journey.
A number of notable people have endorsed my book and are pleased to see the path it is taking. I pray you will be one of my readers. Last two years in high school, we were all listening to WLAC from Nashville, TN! Some nights reception wasn't so good, the music would fade in and out. On those nights, when I was listening in bed, I would place my radio on my chest so I could hear the music, but would not disturb the rest of the family. I loved that music! Would fall asleep listening to the beautiful sounds out of Nashville! I still have all my 45s from those days, and there are ma…
